Magnet Dance

All About Dance Magnet

The Dance program is designed for students who demonstrate a natural ability and high interest in dance. Students are introduced to a wide range of dance experiences and activities which enhance basic movement, technique, and creativity.

Instruction is given in areas of ballet, jazz, tap, creative movement and choreography. Students have numerous opportunities to perform throughout the year and take field trips to dance performances. Guest artists are invited to teach special classes.

The dance studio is fully equipped with a marley floor, mirrored wall and barres, to meet the needs of all forms of dance activities.

The goal of the Dance Program is to help each student develop a movement vocabulary from which creativity, interest, and personal success can be achieved. Applicants are selected and evaluated during the screening/audition process based on the following criteria: coordination, flexibility, agility, musicality, stamina, and potential. Previous formal instruction in dance is not required.
